Brufut Woods is one of the most rewarding birdwatching locations within easy reach of The Gambia’s coastal resorts. This surviving area of mature woodland, scrub and community-managed habitat provides shelter for an impressive variety of resident birds.
The site is especially valuable for visitors who want to experience woodland birding without travelling far inland. Its shaded paths and quieter clearings offer a very different experience from the open wetlands around Kotu and Kartong.

Brufut Woods contains a mixture of:

Brufut Woods can be productive throughout the year. The dry-season months from **November to April** generally provide comfortable walking conditions and coincide with the main international birdwatching season.
