What's in the checklist
The four-page checklist covers around 90 common and notable birds of Kotu Creek, grouped so they're easy to find in the field: kingfishers, bee-eaters and rollers, woodland and garden birds, doves, swifts and swallows, warblers, sunbirds and seed-eaters, wetland birds and waders, terns, herons and egrets, and raptors.
Each species has Seen and Heard tick boxes with space for a count and a short note. There is room at the top for the date, start time, weather and tide, and a section at the end for anything extra you find. The list is based on Lamin's own Kotu Creek records.
How to use it
Print it, or keep it on your phone, and use it on a walk around the creek, the rice fields and the nearby woodland. Kotu's mix of tidal creek, mangroves, mudflats, rice fields and open woodland means you can see a wide range of birds in one visit. Sightings vary with the season, tide and weather, so treat it as a practical core list, not a complete record.
